Why is this room only $99/night when other rooms cost more?
Simple — the El Mar Room has two full-size beds instead of a king bed and is located on the 2nd floor. Most guests request a king, so we offer El Mar at a reduced rate to fill it. You get the exact same location, views, amenities, and experience as our other rooms. The only difference is the bed configuration.
Is the room in a less desirable location at the resort?
Absolutely not. El Mar is in the same beachfront building as our La Jungle which has a King Bed.. You have access to the same shared ocean-view patio with the same stunning Caribbean views. There's no "back of the resort" compromise here.
Do I have access to all the same amenities?
Yes — 100%. The beach, pool, dock, kayaks, paddleboards, hammocks, restaurant, bar — everything. El Mar guests enjoy the full Playa Sonrisa experience. There are zero restrictions or limitations. And clothes-free of course!
What does "plus tax" mean? Are there hidden fees?
The rate is $99 USD per night plus applicable local taxes. There are no hidden resort fees, no surprise charges, and no cleaning fees. What you see is what you pay, plus standard 16% IVA + 5% hospitality tax. We believe in transparent, honest pricing. And breakfast is included at no extra charge for up to 2 guests.
Why is there a 3-night minimum?
At $99/night, we need a minimum stay to make the special rate work. But honestly, once you arrive, you'll wish you'd booked longer. Three nights gives you enough time to truly unwind, explore, and fall in love with the Playa Sonrisa. .
Can I extend my stay if I love it?
Yes — subject to availability! Many guests arrive for 3 nights and end up extending. If the El Mar Room is available for additional nights during the offer period, you can extend at the same $99/night rate.
How do I get to Playa Sonrisa?
Getting to Playa Sonrisa is easier than you might think. Most guests fly into Tulum International Airport (TQO), then either rent a car or arrange a private transportation service for the scenic 3-hour drive to the resort. If you prefer, you can also fly into Cancun International Airport (CUN), which offers more flight options but requires approximately a 5-hour drive. Once we confirm your reservation, we’ll be happy to provide detailed directions and transportation recommendations to help make your journey smooth and stress-free.
